Temporary Shutdown

Which kind of describes my year so far. My father died on January 11, I found out a good friend of mine died a few days before Christmas and no one called me, and now another member of my family is in the hospital critically ill. I'm going to migrate my blog to my real website, http://www.antiquotidian.com, and just keep this here for traffic. It will probably be a few weeks before I get everthing moved, but see you there.

Goodbye

My dad passed away yesterday.

Please, don't let your loved ones die in a hospital if they would have wanted to die somewhere else.

Bad News

Well, my dad went into the hospital again on Wednesday. He was breathing funny and his heart was beating irregularly and mom called the ambulance, which drove down our 2 mile driveway to her cramped and cluttered office.

They took him to the hospital.

The doctors say he is in severe respirtory distress and has congestive heart failure. My stepbrother is crying on the phone, and my stepsister is on her way here from Montana. (Grrr.) We slept on the floor of the ICU at St. John's, and my back has never felt worse.
